Fidelity

"Fidelity" by Regina Spektor

I never loved nobody fully
Always one foot on the ground
And by protecting my heart truly
I got lost in the sounds
I hear in my mind
All of these voices
I hear in my mind all these words
I hear in my mind all this music

And it breaks my heart
And it breaks my heart
And it breaks my heart
When it breaks my heart

Suppose I never, ever met you
Suppose we never fell in love
Suppose I never, ever let you kiss me so sweet and so soft
Suppose I never, ever saw you
Suppose you never, ever called
Suppose I kept on singing love songs just to break my own fall
Just to break my fall
Just to break my fall
Just to break my fall
Break my fall
Break my fall

All my friends say that of course it's gonna get better
Gonna get better
Better better better better better better better

I never loved nobody fully
Always one foot on the ground
And by protecting my heart truly
I got lost
In the sounds
I hear in my mind
All these voices
I hear in my mind all these words
I hear in my mind
All of this music
And it breaks my heart
And It breaks my heart

I hear in my mind
All of these voices
I hear in my mind all these words
I hear in my mind
All of this music
And it breaks my heart
And it breaks my heart
And It Breaks my Heart
When it Breaks my heart
But it breaks my heart
When it breaks my heart
Breaks my heart
And it breaks my heart
And it breaks my heart
And it breaks my heart
And it breaks my heart

And Afterwards, It Did

Old Woman: Why is it snowing grandma? Where does it come from?
Little Girl: Oh that's a long story, sweetheart.
Little Girl: I wanna hear it.
Old Woman: Not tonight. Go to sleep.
Little Girl: I'm not sleepy. Tell me, please.
Old Woman: Well, let's see. I guess it would have to start with scissors.
Little Girl: Scissors?
Old Woman: Well, there are all kinds of scissors. And once there was even a man who had scissors for hands.
Little Girl: A man?
Old Woman: Yes.
Little Girl: Hands scissors?
Old Woman: No, scissor hands. You know that mansion, on top of the mountain?
Little Girl: It's haunted.
Old Woman: Well, a long time ago, an inventor lived in that mansion. He made many things I suppose. He also created a man. He gave him insides: a heart, a brain, everything, well, almost everything. You see, the inventor was very old. He died before he got to finish the man he had invented. So the man was left by himself, incomplete and all alone.

Edward: I'm not finished.

Esmeralda: It's not heaven he's from! It's straight from the stinking flames of hell! The power of Satan is in him; I can feel it. Can't you? Have you poor sheep strayed so far from the path?
Edward: We're not sheep.
Esmeralda: Don't come near me!

Kim: It must have been awful when they told you whose house it was.
Edward: I knew it was Jim's house.
Kim: You... you did?
Edward: Yes.
Kim: ...Well, then why'd you do it?
Edward: Because you asked me to.

The Inventor (Vincent Price): [to Edward] Let us pretend that we are in the drawing room and the hostess is serving tea. Now many numerous little questions confront us. Should the man rise when he accepts his cup of tea? May lump sugar be taken with the fingers? No. Is it good form to accept a second cup? Should the napkin be entirely unfolded or should the centre crease be allowed to remain? It is so easy to commit embarrassing blunders, but etiquette tells us just what is expected of us and guards us from all humiliation and discomfort. Mm, yes. Boring. Let us switch to, uh, to some poetry, hm? 'There was an old man from the Cape, who made himself garments of crepe. When asked: will they tear? He replied: Here and there, but they keep such a beautiful shape!' That's right. Go ahead, smile, it's funny. That's right.

Kim (as an old woman): She never saw him again. Not after that night.
Little Girl: How do you know?
Kim: Because I was there.
Little Girl: You could have gone up there! You still could go!
Kim: No sweetheart. I'm an old woman now. I would rather he remembers me the way I was.
Little Girl: How do you know he's still alive?
Kim: I don't know. Not for sure. But I believe he is. You see, before he came down here, it never snowed. And afterwards, it did. If he weren't up there now, I don't think it would be snowing. Sometimes you can still catch me dancing in it.

Sealed with a Kiss

Though we gotta say goodbye for the summer
Darling, I promise you this
I'll send you all my love
Every day in a letter
Sealed with a kiss
Yes, it's gonna be a cold lonely summer
But I'll fill the emptiness
I'll send you all my dreams
Every day in a letter
Sealed with a kiss
I'll see you in the sunlight
I'll hear your voice everywhere
I'll run to tenderly hold you
But darling, you won't be there
I don't wanna say goodbye for the summer
Knowing the love we'll miss
So let us make a pledge
To meet in September
And seal it with a kiss
[Instrumental Interlude]
Yes, it's gonna be a cold lonely summer
But I'll fill the emptiness
I'll send you all my love
Every day in a letter
Sealed with a kiss
Sealed with a kiss
Sealed with a kiss

I Need a Hero

Where have all the good men gone
And where are all the gods?
Where's the street-wise Hercules
To fight the rising odds?
Isn't there a white knight upon a fiery steed?
Late at night I toss and I turn and I dream
of what I need

I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night
He's gotta be strong
And he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the morning light
He's gotta be sure
And it's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life

Somewhere after midnight
In my wildest fantasy
Somewhere just beyond my reach
There's someone reaching back for me
Racing on the thunder and rising with the heat
It's gonna take a superman to sweep me off my feet

Up where the mountains meet the heavens above
Out where the lightning splits the sea
I could swear that there's someone somewhere
Watching me

Through the wind and the chill and the rain
And the storm and the flood
I can feel his approach
Like the fire in my blood

I need a hero. I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night

Where have all the good men gone
And where are all the gods?
Where's the street-wise Hercules
To fight the rising odds?
Isn't there a white knight upon a fiery steed?
Late at night I toss and I turn and I dream
of what I need

I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night
He's gotta be strong
And he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the morning light
He's gotta be sure
And it's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life

Somewhere after midnight
In my wildest fantasy
Somewhere just beyond my reach
There's someone reaching back for me

This Guy's In Love

Ever since I saw the movie "Seeking a Friend for the End of the World" a few days ago, this song has been haunting me. I remember it from my childhood. It's not that it's such a great song, or that it's a brilliant song, but it's a song that kind of hangs around and stays with you. Kind of sweet, kind of sad, a mix of things. "My hands.... are shaking"

"This Guy's in Love with You" by Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass,

You say this guy
This guy's in love with you
Yes I'm in love
Who looks at you the way I do
When you smile I can tell
We know each other very well
How can I show you
I'm glad I got to know you, 'cause

I've heard some talk
They say you think I'm fine
Yes I'm in love
And what I do to make you mine
Tell me now, is it so
Don't let me be the last to know
My hands are shaking
Don't let my heart be breaking, 'cause

I need your love
I want your love
Say you're in love,
in love with this guy
If not I'll just... die

Tell me now, is it so
Don't let me be the last to know
My hands are shaking
Don't let my heart be breaking, 'cause

I need your love
I want your love
Say you're in love,
in love with this guy
If not I'll just... die
